On Wednesday, March 26, 2025, the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, in cooperation with the Human Rights Unit at the College of Law, University of Fallujah, held a workshop entitled: (Drugs and Legal Mechanisms to Reduce Them). The lecture was attended by the teaching assistant, Aseel Amer Hammoud, who is responsible for the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, and the teaching assistant, Omar Suleiman Saeed, who is responsible for the Human Rights Unit. This workshop addressed the definition of drugs as a phenomenon that constitutes a serious challenge to the state, and has various dimensions, economic, health, security and moral. This workshop touched on the legal mechanisms to confront and reduce drugs, dry up their sources and punish their perpetrators, users and traffickers, and through national mechanisms such as the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law No. (50) of 2017 in force, and the original law is the Iraqi Penal Code No. (111) of 1969 as amended. This workshop stressed the need to establish legal rules at the national, regional and international levels, and to intensify international cooperation in all fields, to combat drugs and stop their spread through all legal means.
