Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Law/University of Fallujah (Prof. Dr. Raed Naji Ahmed), the Educational Guidance and Psychological Guidance Unit held a workshop entitled “The Role of University Education in Combating Extremism,” in which the Assistant Lecturer (Saja Hamdi Mizer) lectured. The workshop addressed the role of university education as a cornerstone in building youth awareness and confronting extremist ideas. She stressed that university education contributes to promoting human values and tolerance through educational curricula and extracurricular activities that consolidate the concepts of peaceful coexistence and acceptance of others. She also pointed out the importance of developing critical thinking skills among students, which helps them confront extremist discourse with logical and rational arguments. The workshop also touched on the importance of scientific research in studying the causes of extremism and developing appropriate solutions, and called for activating the role of universities in building bridges of communication with society through awareness programs and partnerships with governmental and community institutions. The workshop concluded by emphasizing that universities are not only places for learning, but vital tools for social change and a major source for building safe and tolerant societies.
