University Belonging and Confronting Hate Speech

In line with the directions of the College of Law and consistent with its vision of preparing highly competent graduates, consolidating legal and societal awareness, and enhancing the role of students in confronting negative phenomena, the college held a workshop today, Tuesday, April 7, 2026, through its Rehabilitation and Employment Unit, entitled “University Belonging and Confronting Hate Speech.” The workshop was presented by Professor Dr. Abdulrahman Saleh Latif.

The workshop addressed the development of a sense of responsibility and belonging to the educational institution as an environment that nurtures moderate thought and constructive dialogue. Dr. Latif then outlined the legal and intellectual frameworks of hate speech and its negative impacts on societal peace, highlighting the role of university students in countering such phenomena through adherence to academic values, respect for diversity, and rejection of bigotry. The workshop also emphasized the importance of consolidating a culture of tolerance and coexistence, and promoting positive discourse within the university environment in accordance with constitutional and legal principles.
