Legal Protection from Harms Resulting from Artificial Intelligence Technologies

Legal Protection from Harms Resulting from Artificial Intelligence Technologies

In line with the College of Law's directions and its vision aimed at preparing graduates with scientific competence and high legal skills, and in order to equip the college's students and graduates with practical knowledge that contributes to developing their professional capabilities in the fields of legal work, the College of Law, on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, and through its Qualification and Employment Unit, held a scientific workshop titled:

"Legal Protection from Harms Resulting from Artificial Intelligence Technologies – The Use of Audio and Video as a Model"

It was presented by Lecturer (Assistant Professor Dr. Maher Mohammed Alwan). During the workshop, he addressed the concept of artificial intelligence and its most prominent risks associated with the use of audio and video technologies, particularly the risks of deepfakes, digital blackmail, digital identity theft, defamation, and reputational damage.

The lecturer also reviewed the legal framework regulating cybercrimes, clarifying the aspects of civil and criminal liability resulting from crimes arising from the use of artificial intelligence technologies in the field of audio and video.

At the conclusion of the workshop, the presenter offered a set of preventive and practical solutions to mitigate these harms, including legal, technical, institutional, and procedural solutions, in addition to awareness-raising solutions that contribute to enhancing legal awareness among individuals and institutions.
