Coinciding with the national celebration of March 12, National Afforestation Day, the Psychological Guidance and Educational Guidance Unit held the workshop entitled (The Role of Green Spaces in Reducing the Phenomenon of Desertification) on Tuesday, 3/12/2024, attended by M.M. Ashwaq Talib Kassar, M.M. Saja Hamdi Mizer, as it highlighted the national will to raise awareness of the necessity of protecting this heritage and ensuring its sustainability. In this context, I touched upon The workshop focused on the concept of desertification, its historical path, and the causes of its exacerbation, passing through the Iraqi government’s strategy in its initiative to prepare a national framework to combat desertification and its accession to the United Nations Convention, as well as the enactment of the Environmental Protection and Improvement Law No. (27) of 2009, the aim of which is to preserve natural resources in a way that contributes to achieving well-being and sustainable development.
