Toward a Review of the Legal Liability Provisions for Cosm
Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Ahmed Suleiman Hamad, President of the University, under the supervision of the Dean of the College, and in the presence of Professor Dr. Suleiman Barrak Dayeh, Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs.
The College of Law at the University of Fallujah held a scientific symposium titled:
(Toward a Review of the Legal Liability Provisions for Cosmetic Surgery)
on Tuesday, 28 April 2026, at exactly 10:00 a.m.
The symposium addressed a number of important themes. The first theme, presented by Dr. Ahmed Shami Jassim, Head of the Burn and Cosmetic Surgery Department at Fallujah Teaching Hospital, reviewed the reality of cosmetic surgery in Iraq between necessity and obsession. The second theme, presented by Professor Dr. Draa Hammad Abd, discussed the basis of liability for the cosmetic surgeon. The third theme, presented by Professor Dr. Saad Hussein Abd, addressed the types of harm within the scope of cosmetic surgery.
The symposium aimed to determine the legal nature of cosmetic procedures, enhance patient protection as a consumer of medical services, as well as identify legislative or judicial gaps in this field.
The symposium was moderated by Dr. Thaer Hamed Awwad, in the presence of a number of professors and those interested in legal and medical affairs, as part of the College's effort to promote scientific activities and keep pace with contemporary legal issues.
