A master’s thesis at the College of Law discussing the constitutional organization of the powers of the President of the Republic in the Constitution of the Republic of Iraq for the year 2005. With God Almighty’s blessings, the College of Law discussed on Thursday, September 19, 2024, a master’s thesis in public law titled ((The constitutional organization of the powers of the President of the Republic in the Constitution of the Republic of Iraq for the year 2005 - a comparative study)) and submitted by the master’s student, Ziad Ali Jassim. The President of the State is a symbol of the unity of the nation, preserves its independence and territorial integrity, takes into account the interests of the people, and enjoys supreme political authority in the state, provided that he works to overcome partisan rivalries. It works on social cohesion among the segments of the people. The development in democratic systems and the transformation of countries from a monarchy to a republican system of government has led to a difference in the powers granted to the President of the Republic in accordance with the constitutional texts. The executive authority in Iraq, according to the 2005 Constitution, consists of two parties: the President of the Republic and the Council of Ministers. The President of the Republic has been granted broad and influential powers, and these broad powers have had a negative impact on the President of the Republic, subjecting him to responsibility. Therefore, these jurisdictions were not immune from oversight, whether the oversight was political or judicial. The researcher presented an appendix of a proposed law to serve the topic of the thesis. The discussion committee consisted of: Prof. Dr. Khaled Rashid Ali, Chairman, Prof. Dr. Yamama Muhammad Hassan, Member, Prof. Dr. Ismail Fadel Halawas, Member, Prof. Akkab Ahmed Muhammad, Member and Supervisor. After extensive study of the thesis and the discussion committee hearing the student’s defenses for his thesis, the committee decided to accept the thesis and grant the student a master’s degree.
